Abstract

Frailty is defined as a progressive age-relate decline in physiological system that results in decreased reserves and functional declines. Sarcopenia, the condition of loss of muscle with aging has been regarded as major component of frailty because skeletal muscle mass and strength are directly related with physical performance and disability. Maintaining oral health is important for proper nutritional intake and it has strong associations with self-esteem, psychological support, and musculoskeletal aging in elderly. The aim of this report is to suggest the necessities of multi-disciplinary approach including oral health care in sarcopenia and frailty management in geriatric medicine.
